Thank you for reading this newsletter!
I love getting a new cookbook. There are so many beautiful ones out that it is hard to decide what to buy. Of course it is important that the recipes in the book work & one way to know that they might be is to get recommendations from people who have the book. Or if I have one book & I like it, I feel pretty confident to get new ones that have been published by the same author!
I just bought Bonnie Stern’s new book. I have several of her cookbooks. She wrote this with her daughter & there are some really good recipes in this book! The name of the new book is called Don’t Worry Just Cook.
I also like cookbooks by Nik Sharma. He writes on Substack if you want to follow him & read what he has to say.
I use this book by Adeena Sussman often Sababa
Have you heard of Smitten Kitchen Cookbooks? I have two of these by Deb Perelman. Deb writes on Substack
One of my favourite dessert cookbooks is this one from Carine Goren. I love the photos in this book & I have several of the recipes from this book on the blog
I have so many cookbooks! I can’t possibly show you all of them but these are some of the ones I use often.
If I am not using a cookbook I like the Bon Appetit website & Epicurious. You can access some free recipes but after a certain number then there is a membership. It is well worth it! I have several recipes on the blog that I have adapted from these two sites
Any of these books would make a lovely Mother’s Day gift! I have a Shop page on the blog & there are links to some of them!
This Week On the Blog
This recipe if for Leslie’s Egg Cups. My friend Leslie gave me the recipe for these. I love them! The recipe makes several egg cups so great for a crowd or I froze them & heated them up when I wanted to eat them!
One of our all-time favourites. I love Bran Muffins! This recipe is simple, moist & always good. I like to add dates to this recipe & I have raisins in these as well…Murray loves raisins!
I have seen some Halibut in the stores lately & it reminded me of this really wonderful recipe for Panko Crusted Halibut. The recipe was in a grocery flyer many years ago & I am glad that I kept the recipe!
That is all for this week. Next week I will have dessert recipes you might like to make for Mother’s Day!!
I have a small home library with several hundred cookbooks and multiple years of several food magazines,as well as thousands of saved Pinterest recipes, printed pages from the internet, and 4 boxes of index cards with handwritten recipes gleaned from who-knows-where! I will never get around to even trying half of all the recipes I've saved, but I can't stop myself from saving more and buying more cookbooks. I think I have a problem!
