So many questions about so many things! Today I want to ask you a couple questions about this newsletter!
I am wondering what you would like to see here? Are you interested in all things cooking only? Or a bit more personal stuff?
Writing a newsletter is new for me. I have had my blog, marilyndishes.com for a few years now. Some of the recipes on the blog are directly from other creators. Some are recipes that are my own or my family recipes. Some are recipes that I have adapted from other recipes to accommodate our taste & Kosher home! There are over 600 recipes on the blog so I like to repost some of them while adding new ones as well! I always just write a bit about the recipe. Here, on Substack I think I can write anything!! I do not want to bore anyone with too much personal stuff! I know that there will be a difference in opinion so I suppose I will just see what people say & then figure it out myself!!
Here is a bit of personal stuff!
Murray (my husband) & I were in Toronto recently. We did not eat out much but we did get to my favourite scone place. Baker & Scone Here is a picture of their egg in a scone!
We were given a slice of KING CAKE from New Orleans! I was so excited to try it as I have seen so much about it on TikTok & Instagram. I cut the cake into pieces to share with tea after dinner, left it on the kitchen counter & the wonderful loving Golden Retriever who lives where we were decided she also wanted some King Cake! I came into the kitchen & it was on the floor half eaten! I am sure she loved it! Here is a picture of the King Cake before it was eaten…not by us! Looks delicious!
What’s On the Blog This Week
The Super Bowl is this weekend so I have put together a post on the blog with a few delicious things to eat while watching the game.. or just to eat anytime. Here is the link to that post! You can check our other appetizer recipes too! I like to eat appetizers while watching sports!!
We love Banana Bread. All of these years I pull out the mixer & mix up the batter. I didn’t want to have to clean the mixer so I tried to make this delicious Banana Bread in one bowl! There are several recipes on the blog & they are all great1 One of my favs is a recipe with Banana Bread with Maple Frosting or Cinnamon Swirl Banana Bread (my son collaborated with me on this recipe!)
Here is the picture & link to the One Bowl Banana Bread
I re-posted a terrific and super easy pasta recipe from Martha Stewart. A One Pot Pasta dish. Nice and simple & really good.
Here is a recipe that is great as a side dish or it can stand on its own with a salad! A strudel made with Spinach & Mushrooms. Very easy to adapt to your own personal taste if you want to change this up a bit! You can add some feta which would be nice. I love the crispy puff pasty hugging the spinach & mushroom filling. So Good!
That’s it for this week!
Thanks so much for reading!
I like to read some personal stuff, but not ALL personal stuff! The mix you had today was very good. I do expect you mostly to have recipes. I don't keep Kosher except for no chametz at Passover, so whether something is M/D/P is not a deal- breaker for me. The One-Bowl Banana Bread looks very good!
