Pickle Ball... my new sport!
My son belongs to a rec centre & there are Pickle Ball courts there. He told me that he started playing Pickle Ball & it is really fun! So, I asked him to take me with him one day & show me how to play. Well…. I love it! I have never really liked sports.. tennis has never been fun for me. Golf is intense & so much walking! ( I know people love golf & I actually think I might if I gave it a try) But for some reason I love Pickle Ball. I think it could be because I am playing with my son which is really a great way to spend time with him & he is kind to me on the court! He hits the ball so I can actually send it back to him. Not all the time but we do rally the ball back & forth a lot. Pickle Ball seems to be good game for all ages & fitness levels. You can run around a lot or not much & just let the balls go by! Now I have to decide whether to join the rec centre so I can play a couple times a week or just drop in! I mentioned Pickle Ball here in case you have heard about it & wondered if it was fun! It sure is for me!
I always,,,well, I don’t always work out but when I do, I work out to a dynamic stretching program called Essentrics. I would recommend everyone to check this out. It is really amazing. It would be hard to explain the philosophy behind this method of exercise but I highly recommend checking it out. Good for all ages, all abilities . They have programmes by decade so 20’s to 70’s. They also focuses on many different things for example Sore back, Planters Fasciitis & many general all-body workouts. The workouts are gentle & well explained by the instructors. I always feel great after doing an episode. Here is a link to the website Essentrics. My daughter worked for this company many years ago in Montreal & that is how I found them.
I am grateful to my kids for making sure I am fit to help offset all the food like the Banana Pudding from last week!
Let me know if you play Pickle Ball & if you have a look at the Essentrics program.
This Week On the Blog
Norene Gilletz was a cookbook author among many other things. I have been using her cookbooks forever. Sadly she passed away 3 years ago. She was a very friendly outgoing woman who always made time to have lunch with me when I went to Toronto. Norene was a great supporter of my food blog. Here is a post with some of the recipes of hers that I have posted over the years. There are many more recipes of hers on the blog & you can do a search for Norene Gilletz & they will come up
Corn Flake Baked Chicken The flavour of the seasoned corn flake crumbs on this chicken is delicious! Crispy & tender inside this could be a ‘go-to’ recipe for you from now on I think!
Quick Rise Cinnamon Buns Made with Fleischmann Rapid Rise yeast. What I like about this recipe other than how delicious & tender they are…. is that the prep time is about 2 hours less than if you use regular yeast. Rapid Rise yeast works out great in this one.
Brussels Sprouts & Kale Slaw A very hearty salad. I use my food processor for ease with this salad so it cuts down the time it takes to make this!
That’s all for this week! (Next weeks newsletter might be late)
