Winter Blues?
It has been so cold where I live that I wonder if I am having Winter Blues? Winter Blues where I just want to stay inside & do nothing? Is that even what people call Winter Blues?
The view from my front window
I love the crisp white snow outside, I actually enjoy the early darkness that descends on the city I live in, but somedays it is just tooo cold & I do not want to leave my comfortable cozy home.
I realize that some people truly do suffer from sadness in the Winter & that it is can be a serious issue. True Winter Blues is not a joke or something to take lightly & if anyone is experiencing this one could always seek some help to get through this period of time in their life
Sometimes I stay home in the winter when there are very low temps outside. Of course there is always things to do around the house. I could clean closets, update the filing cabinet or do some deep cleaning the house. I don’t always have the motivation for that or anything really! ( is this Winter Blues?) I could cook something that is ‘hands on’ to make… I want to try to make Danish Pastry that takes a couple of days to prepare… I could make some Varenikis but I really just like to snack & knit or read! Of course that is fine, whatever I decide to do is ok. Whatever anyone does on these cold dark days of winter is ok! I would not say that this is actually Winter Blues but more that I just like being cozy & a bit low-key some days! After a couple days of being home I have to brave the cold & head out of the house! Thankfully there is always groceries to buy or a walk inside the shopping mall where I can be nice & warm.
Let me know what you like to do on a cold winters day. If you live in a nice warm place I would like to hear from you too! If you don’t get snow you might get rain! Rainy days are perfect for doing things at home if you can stay inside!

A Noodle Kugel is a baked pasta dish! I often think of a Baked Pasta Dish as Lasagne, Baked Mac & Cheese but the humble Noodle Kugel is just as delicious any any other baked pasta dish! In this blog post there are 4 really good Noodle Kugle Recipes
I know we can make Baked Potatoes in the oven & they turn out just fine! But, I have an Air Fryer so I like to make these Air Fryer Baked Potatoes. They were crispy on the outside & so fluffy inside! I love them. Baked Potatoes are so versatile aren’t they? Just with some butter…delish, add some sour cream..yum, chives… wow. You can top them with some veg & then some cheese too! I just pop them in the microwave briefly to melt the cheese! So So Good
My friend gave me this recipe for a Tuna Casserole. I remember eating this at her house when we were in high school which was, needless to say, many years ago! I won’t tell you how many years! This recipe is delicious & such a comfort food! The addition of cheese on top of this makes it extra delish! Jane’s Tuna Casserole
I posted several Soup & Stew Recipes the other day when the temperature here was getting to -40c! I am sure you will be for us that the weather is getting warmer soon but still these recipes are good anytime!
One more recipe I want to share with you is the Watergate Salad! This became popular in the 1970’s! It was developed my a sous chef at the Watergate Hotel in Washington so that is how this ‘salad’ got its name.
