This looks very good, and pretty, too, with the broccoli and red bell pepper. I would use a small steak, cut into strips, or cubed tofu, just because I think the texture would be better for eating with chopsticks (which I'd do). Making this weekend, for sure!
What protein do you like? Tofu? It would weil well ground chicken or turkey would be good!

What other protein would work in this recipe ? I really do not eat beef or pork or shell fish
